Ray Tanner & Ray Korte families move to Arizona
1942
Ray Korte, Sr. became General Manager for the
Phoenix DeSoto-Plymouth dealer C.P. Stevens
1944
Ray Korte, Sr. opened Kaiser-Frazer dealership
at 106 W. Van Buren with Ray Korte, Jr.
1946
Captain Ray Tanner, Sr. Honorably Discharged from
U.S. Army Air Corps and joined his father-in-law at
Ray Korte Motors

1958
Ray Tanner, Sr. established Ray Tanner Motors, Inc.,
at 1101 E. Camelback Road. It was the first Toyopet
(Toyota) Dealership in Arizona.
1959
Ray Korte Motors acquired American Motors franchise
and moved dealership to 401 W. Van Buren
1960
Ray Tanner Motors moved to 1500 N. Central.
Sold Studebaker, Jeep, Cortez Motor Homes & Volvo

1965
After the death of Ray Korte, Sr. in 1964, Ray Korte, Jr.
completed his father’s dream & moved Ray Korte
Rambler-Jeep to 23rd Avenue & Camelback Road.
1970
Ray Korte, Jr. sold the Rambler-Jeep dealership and
purchased Madison Chevrolet in Scottsdale.
On June 15, 1970, Ray Korte Chevrolet was born on
the NE corner of Scottsdale & McDowell Roads.

1972
Ray Tanner Motors moved to 2143 W. Camelback
to open one of the first exclusive Volvo dealerships
in North America and became “Ray Tanner Volvo”.
1979
Ray Tanner, Sr. became President and a partner of
“Broadway Volvo” in Tuscon, Arizona.
1984
Mike Tanner went to work for Ray Tanner Volvo.

1990
Broadway Volvo was sold to the managing partner,
Frank DiChristofano.
1998
Ray Korte III & Virginia Korte sold Ray Korte Chevrolet to
Classic Chevrolet who sold it to Bill Heard Chevrolet,
the largest Chevrolet dealer in the country.
1999-Present
In the next ten years, Tanner Volvo was sold to become
Volvo on Camelback, then Volvo North Scottsdale, and
today is Sanderson Volvo.
Ray Tanner Volvo Body Shop was sold to Mike & Lisa
Tanner and renamed Tanner Luxury Collision, Inc.
which today is known as Tanner Collision.
